Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is a group of enthusiastic parents who meet regularly to organise fundraising events to provide resources for the school that are not covered by the school's operating budget.

Often PTA fundraising provides additional equipment and assistance towards larger projects for the school which ensures we maximise the opportunities we offer our students.  The PTA supports the school to organise various events and provides the manpower to assist with these events, including Agricultural Day and working bees to help maintain the school facilities.  This support helps the school to hold larger events for our students and local community to participate in.

The Board (BOT) is the governing body of the school and the PTA operates under their position.  All resources purchased and events organised are to support the BOT achieve the Vision and Strategic Plan of the school.

Our current PTA Committee Members are:

Chairperson:    Jo Kavermann
Secretary:         Sarah Parker
Treasurer:         Mel McKenzie

2024 will be another great year for our PTA, with some ideas currently being discussed and shaped!

We have already held a successful working bee to remove lots of overgrown bushes and flax, replacing them with bark and some new shrubs.

Last year we organised a hugely successful colour run and carnival day, in conjunction with School Fun Runs NZ. The colour run alone raised over $9,000 for our kura! With the carnival proceeds added in, we were looking at a total of over $12,000! We were so proud to be able to do this for our Roto tamariki.

How Can You Help?

"Many hands make light work"

We're always keen to welcome support from other parents at our school, whether it is occasionally or on a regular basis.  In helping out, you will benefit our children, our school, and you'll feel good about what you are doing! Ways in which you could support us include;

  • Assisting at events; setting up, marshalling, manning the sausage sizzle
  • Helping to decorate, set up, serve or pack down, at the PTA Disco
  • Baking for raffles & events, or donating items
  • Joining our committee
  • Sponsoring, or encouraging others to sponsor, a team, event or items needed for school.

Email pta@rotoorangi.school.nz if you would like to know more about joining the PTA or helping with a specific event.
